Today’s digital thermostates are far more efficient than their analog predecessors, providing intelligent precise control of HVAC equipment. Converting to digital thermostates however is useually a difficult process. Analog thermostates used four-wire connections while digital thermostates use five. This means running new wires, or even tearing out walls to put in conduits where required by law. For high-voltage equipment such as basebourd heaters, digital thermostates can be hard to find and expensive.
